Monfalcone, Italy (PortSEurope) June 12, 2019 – Monfalcone port plans to launch a €18 million ($20.4 million) dredging project to increase the draft of its access channel to 12.5 metres from 11.5 metres, regional infrastructure councillor Graziano Pizzimenti has said.
The excavated sludge will be stored in a reclaimed area after some “replanting, raising and waterproofing of containment banks” and other preparatory ground works for water drainage and discharge of excess water.
The area where the sludge will be stored was already been prepared last year. The area was deforested, some areas have been drained, and analyses and surveys have been carried out.
