Spartacus Takes Next Step in Preparation for Teeth Implant

IHC took the next step this week in preparation for having the cutter head fitted to the most powerful Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) in the world, DEME’s Spartacus. Before the head can be fitted the 2,450t cutter ladder would have to be fitted.

Ocean Energy Resources: Heerema’s Aegir installs cutterladder into world’s most powerful cutter dredger

The Spartacus was towed from IHC’s shipyard in Kinderdijk to the Caland Canal while the cutterladder was transported by barge. First, Aegir lifted the cutterladder from the barge with her dual crane blocks.

Spartacus was then moved into position and moored alongside Aegir. The 57-meter long cutterladder was carefully lowered into position by rotating the ladder as well as shifting the Spartacus.

Clearances encountered during this process were as small as 24 mm. After the locking pins were engaged, the cutterladder installation was completed.

Recently the biggest ram luffing CBW crane left our premises in Rostock. The tailor-made Liebherr type CBW-F 3450 ship crane has been manufactured by Liebherr- MCCtec Rostock GmbH for the world's largest cutter suction dredger Spartacus.
