Dredging Today: Hopper Barge Rabochaya Clears Sea Trials
Self-propelled hopper barge ‘Rabochaya’ has successfully completed sea trials at Onego Shipyard LLC, (Petrozavodsk, Republic of Karelia), informs FSUE Rosmorport.

During the trials, the admission board checked the operation status and application requirements, the functioning of automation, navigation and communication aids of the vessel.

According to Rosmorport, the vessel showed full readiness for operation and good capabilities.

The Rabochaya self-propelled hopper barge of KM Ice 1 R3-RSN AUT3 Class is designed for transporting dredged sediment to the unloading site as a part of a dredging convoy with a mechanical dredge or a pipeline dredge when dredging operations are being carried out, the company said.

The barge is equipped with the bottom system of hull opening. The main engines are placed in the back hull of the barge and covered by protection shields.

The Rabochaya was put afloat at the Onego Shipyard in September 2018. Vessels of this project are designed for the operation in the basins of the Black Sea, the Caspian Sea and the Baltic Sea.

New Self-Propelled Hopper Barge Joins Rosmorport Fleet

FSUE Rosmorport North-Western Basin Branch recently added a new vessel to its fleet – the self-propelled hopper barge of project HB 900 named Rabochaya.

The Rabochaya, built by Onezhsky Shipbuilding and Ship-Repairing Plant, is the 5th vessel of the technical and dredging fleet that the branch possesses at the moment and the 63rd vessel within the entire fleet of the branch, the company said.

According to Rosmorport, the hopper is designed for transporting materials from dredgers to landing sites while carrying out dredging operations as part of dredging convoys with scoop and pipeline dredgers.

“This is the single-deck vessel with the module aft superstructure. The hopper is equipped with the bottom opening system. Two main engines are placed on the open deck in the after part of the ship with protecting covers that operatively allows for servicing them and the aggregate replacement of mechanisms,” the company added in the release.

In 2019 the North-Western Basin Branch is planning to use the Rabochaya hopper in the seaport of Ust Luga while carrying out dredging operations in the water area of the seaport.
